Draft for review. This statement is being written to the standard of Australia's Children's Online Privacy Code and needs checking before the app is shared beyond pilot families. It is not legal advice.
For parents and carers
Privacy statement
Meebee & Me is built around one rule: collect the least we can, and keep children's details private by default.
What we collect
- For you: your email address and a scrambled (hashed) copy of your password.
- For each child: a nickname, year level, chosen world, a scrambled copy of their PIN and their comfort settings.
- While your child learns: which questions they answered, how many tries and hints they used, whether they skipped, and when each mission started and finished.
What we never collect
Children's real names, birth dates, schools, photos, voice recordings, locations, email addresses or any health or diagnosis information. There is no chat, no friends list, no public leaderboard and nothing children can post.
Why we collect it
Only to run the lessons, show your child their progress, and show you which skills are mastered and where help is needed. We don't use it for advertising, we don't sell it and we don't share it.
No ads, no tracking
Meebee & Me has no advertising and no third-party analytics or tracking scripts.
Where it is kept
In this test version, everything is stored in this browser on this device and nowhere else. In the hosted version, data will be stored encrypted with a provider in Australia (Sydney region) where possible.
Your choices
From your dashboard you can download a copy of your child's data, change their PIN, delete their profile or delete your whole account at any time. Deleting removes the data permanently.
Settings start private
Every setting starts at its most private option. Consent is asked for separately and boxes are never ticked for you.
If something goes wrong
If we ever find that data has been accessed without permission, we will tell affected families as soon as possible and explain what happened and what we are doing about it.
There is also a privacy statement written for children.
